Domino Papers - the birth of wallpaper

Domino papers were single sheets of paper printed by the Dominotiers in France during the 18th century.

The original purpose was to line trunks and books.

Usually a single sheet made with a woodblock technique and stencils.

The intricate and colorful patterns gradually made it onto walls as an inexpensive and available form of decoration.

The patterns are amazing as some have been preserved in the Smithsonian museum for display. A little history lesson on wallpaper for this week! Follow us on instagram @bridgetbeari every Wednesday for #wallpaperwednesday

The Winner of pattern number 2 is.....

                   The most popular name was

                                   Buscemi!

Catalina was close. Many people thought the agate looked like the waters of Catalina. It think the grey and gold may have looked blue and gold on computers.

                                It's a beauty!

Wait until you see our presentation for the foyer at the Designer House with this pattern. It will blow you away!

Get ready for Monday for another voting round just 3 more patterns to name!

Thanks for all the new submissions too.

Happy Wallpapering ......
