Working with Peter Block

I am thrilled to be a part of a new project in Atlanta. This project will be a collaboration with renown architect Peter Block of Peter Block Architects. The project is just in the planning phase but I can't wait to meet everyone. Peter has worked with best of the best in terms of designers: Barbara Barry, Dan Carithers, Beth Webb and I'm sure many more that I don't know of yet.

Barbara Barry's Indochine Collection

One of the highlights of Blogfest 2011 was meeting and listening to Barbara Barry describe her new Indochine Collection for Kravet. I met her before about 10 years again at the DC Design Center. She had the most fabulous handbag. I took a picture of her handbag this time but it was too dark to show you. It was just as fabulous.

Barbara is one of my all time favorite designers. She is so elegant in person. Her grace and poise are reflected in her fabrics, furniture, rugs, sheets, and china collections. Her passion and enthusiasm for her work is infectious!

Here I am with Barbara and Faith Sheridan from Portland. I told her all about meeting her 10 years ago in DC!  She was polite enough to say she remembered. 

Her new tea Citrine was being served to us during our time at the Kravet showroom. It was a combination of lemongrass, chamomile, verveine, and peppermint. Yummy!

Her new line for Kravet was inspired by her trip to China. She had wonderful slides to share. She created many of her fabric designs right from photographs or sketches she made during this trip. She told us how she gathered small trinkets and brought them home to make small collections that inspired her color palate. She's not crazy about red - rust yes but not red. 

This was one of the fretwork designs that I loved. 

This video is the presentation she made to us. I love her voice so sophisticated and elegant. I hope it is not another 10 years before I meet her again. 

My Favorite Barbara Barry House

There is no one like Barbara Barry. I have loved her work since I was just getting started in this business.

Her style is elegant and sophisticated. Her use of neutrals is unrivaled - just brilliant!  

This is one of my favorite houses in L.A. It was featured in Metropolitan Home. Simple yet very exacting.

Space A clean desk and an empty room—pure potential.

My Bulletin Boards I love to put up whatever inspires me on a bulletin board. I see a connectedness in the way all beautiful things seem to relate.

Watercolors I take watercolors with me everywhere I go. It’s my way of capturing the inspired moment.

New Beginnings The minute I get a new project I feel that sense of excitement and play. It’s my favorite moment in a project because it is filled with potential.

Family I was raised by an artist mother. It was/is everything to me—from seeing her exclaim with passion over color and ideas to building a belief in myself that I could do the same.

Home My home is my haven, and it is a testament to my work—fresh and clean and calm.

Beautiful Process, Beautiful Product I believe food cooked with love tastes better, and design made with care and good energy is evident.
